Vincent Johnson, the 2007 PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Champion in the Men's Division, was named the first recipient of the Charlie Sifford Exemption for the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust Open, which was contested in February. This exemption is a first of-its-kind for a top golfer who advances diversity.
Though he missed the cut at the Northern Trust Open by three-strokes, he gained confidence in his ability to play golf at the highest level.
In this podcast, Vincent and Earnie Ellison, Director of Business and Community Relations for The PGA of America, reflect back on his experience at the Northern Trust Open and PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship, life a junior and collegiate golfer, the impact of PGA Professionals on his career, and his future plans in professional golf.
